Inside the band
i happened to browse through videos and i found the making of 华丽的冒险 纪录片[陈绮贞].http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNTIyMDcyMDQ=.html wow. damn cool. I dont know how to describe. Each of them inside in the band had a certain skill and they can coordinate with each other with 陈绮贞 music. imagine. leading a band with composer, guitarists, drummer, pianist all these. how to coordinateeeeeee. i seriously can feel the hardwork they are doing. Tapping.
Tried pulling random 3 strings, tapping the guitar, following the beat. After trying for a quite some time, i managed to follow the beat of the 陈绮贞-告诉我!In case you don't know, it is not easy to follow the beat and pull the random 3 strings unlike plucking the strings one by one! Got abit improvement, i guess. That time i did try on 时光机, but it sound rather offbeat with that. But right now, i still couldn't pull the random 3 strings perfectly but then got the beat of tapping finally! Idol 陈绮贞 album is still not out in Singapore!=( Come out soon, i need motivation. The feeling
The feeling of playing old songs are back. Previous days, i had been playing 陈绮贞 songs.
I felt so good playing 我不难过! I could strum in different strumming variation and following the song.No more following closely on one strumming pattern. I guessed i had improved somehow. Labels: Guitar
Went off
I found out that i didn't really master the pressing of barre chords!All the time i was strumming and i thought the sound came out right. And just now, i tried plucking every single strings, some went off completely. God. Practice!!! Labels: Guitar
To sound perfectly
And within a week, the barre chords i pressed came out slightly better. No more ugly bass sounds. HAHAHA. But still, i need to practice everyday. I want to switch the chords as fast as possible like how i did on my C to G. And of course, i want all the strings i played to sound perfectly! Gogogogo. Determination, perseverance! Labels: Guitar
Pain
Oh god. Pressing four fingers on the correct frets are a PAIN. No matter how you pressed, the sound came out like shit. Before i started learning these, i know this would definitely happen. Seriously, i know, no pain, no gain. I decided to take down my notes and memorize the E-based minor and A-based minor barre chords and play it.

I decided to learn barre chords. I know it would definitely do me good in the future. Imagine i can switch the chords as fast as possible.The thought of succeeding eventually made feel rather happy. So i started with my barre chords tutorials from the internet. Tutorials :

When i finally
When i finally master the starting verse of 旅行的意义, i began to play the chords. But the chords were somehow wrong. The starting verse of the song does not match with the chords i found on the internet. The chords were C,Am,F,G, Em, A7.But the tabs were like end with D. Bro tell me i should convert the chords as shown below. Only then i would be able to play correctly and more smoothly.
In the end, i managed to find the correct chords matched with the tabs. It was D, Bm, G, A, D, Fm,Bm . -.- Fm. i haven’t touched on the barre chords yet. Labels: Guitar

As i browsed through videos, i saw these two youtube users who must be the fans of 陈绮贞. Omg. That was madness. Seriously, the plucking/strumming of strings they played are like the way 陈绮贞 had played. And wow, they played by ear. No need to see chords. Straight away play by listening. I envy them. Keep myself going
To keep myself going, i kept searching for 陈绮贞 (Cheer Chen) videos on youtube. Suddenly,i started liking her. All her songs/videos i had listened/seen left an impression on me. She’s damn cool. The way she pressed the chords and sang was so perfect. If only i was half as good as her. One word to describe:Talented. A great motivation for me to work even harder. Labels: Guitar
Search high and low
Thus, i went to search high and low for 旅行的意义 tabs. Source :http://www.fingerstylechina.com/viewthread.php?action=printable&tid=6973### When i found it, i was extremely happy. I promised myself to play the the tabs well. But when i saw there are two pages of tabs of the full song, it turns me down. How could i possibly memorize all and play it smoothly then. Chanced upon
There was this one fine day when i chanced upon 陈绮贞 (Cheer Chen) song called 旅行的意义. It was seriously nice when i listened over and over again. The starting tabs were especially soothing. I thought of learning it by hard. Back then,I knew she was a composer, guitarist. My bro and sis liked her. But that didn’t attract me before. And god, as i listened to her other songs like 告诉我，太聪明，After 17,还是会寂寞, 吉他手. It was fabulous! The main thing is that she compose her song on her own with the use of her own guitar like 徐佳莹.

Compose a song
There was a moment of time when i wanted to compose a song, using the tune of 会呼吸的痛-梁静茹 chorus. Thus, i wrote down the lyrics and tried singing. I found out that sucks. One word. Experimenting.
Readable Hokkien lyrics
After watching Money Not Enough 2, there was a Hokkien theme song called 家后 by 江惠. And oh, my idol, 徐佳莹 had sang and played the song before. I decided to take down the readable Hokkien lyrics with the help of playing and pausing the song at every moment of the song. The lyrics were in Chinese and i am to convert to Hokkien readable lyrics. 家后 lyrics 有一日咱若老 找无人将咱孝顺 I went on showing off to family that i am able to play and sing, although the words sang are not fluent. Hate to switch on laptop
Sometimes, i hate to switch on my laptop for easy song chords. So i went writing down the chords/song in a notebook. For easier reference and of course, peeking and playing like i had i had memorized.

18th Birthday
I finally had a guitar of my own. Parted some of my savings for this guitar while my bro had sponsored some of it for my 18th birthday. The price was $135, i think so. I fall in love with my new guitar at Peninsula Davis Guitars straight away. So cool. And i got it on the same day when i went hunting with my bro.

I want a guitar of my own
As time passed and i get used of the acoustic guitar. I wanted a guitar of my own. I don’t to want use my bro guitar anymore. Had the intention to buy a smaller guitar, to suit my size and of course to play easily. The cheapest and the smallest size i saw at Bras Bersah was only $75. Cheap. But as i tried out the guitar, the sound is slightly softer and i had pluck it harder.But then, the guitar is cool. My bro tell me don’t waste money. I am not even to play as well as a beginner and what for i need a better guitar. I made a point at that time.

Started my real recording
After several practices/learning. I started my real recording. It seems to me that recording and playing at the same time is so stress. Felt that i can't make mistakes, can't afford to pluck wrong,must have the right tempo, sing well,etc. 分手快乐(chorus only) 暖暖

Urge to change
After practicing/learning for a long time, i had the urge to change from classical guitar to acoustic guitar. Although the strings were easy to press in classical guitar, the sound that came out doesn’t “shine” and it wasn’t as loud and clear like an acoustic. Bro tell me to stick with the classical, don’t keep changing. Say that as i learn classical, i will be able to adapt in acoustic as well. Labels: Guitar
First guitar website
The first guitar website my bro introduced was www.gita2.com. In that website, there are many songs i can choose to play from. Ranging from Chinese Pop singers to bands. I started with S.H.E songs, thinking the chords are the basics.But it was hard man. The chords know me , i don’t know them. To think i have not even master the basic chords and i want to play. “What’s with C/E, D/F#, D7,Dm7 Am7, all these chords!?” In the end,tried: LANDY(溫嵐)-祝我生日快樂 (C,Am,F, G,D),梁静茹-分手快乐 So happy,able to play and sing. The beat, the changing of chords are still not so smooth.But still, there is a sense of achievement! Kept practicing the changing of chords over and over again to make it sound perfectly. Remembered that time, I was still schooling in RP. Everyday,without fail, when i returned home, i would make an effort to learn the chords and play the guitar. And yes, it doesn’t sound good. Learning basics
Learning basics was a need.Coping with the chords and the impact of pressing the strings tightly was tough. At that time, i blamed myself for making a slow progress of learning. It seems that i cant play well, although i really really tried my best. Yet again,to motivate myself, i listened/watched to 徐佳莹 songs/videos to boost up my motivation level and bro encourage me to watch more youtube videos and learn from the users. Started my attempts
I started my attempts in recording myself playing guitar and singing.The first attempt i tried was 逆光by 孙燕姿 And the second attempt i tried was 天灰 by S.H.E Okay. It was awful. All were not smoothly played. The tune, the strumming, the beats, the rythme ,the chords i played, and the singing. All were so OFF. But,as i listened to my recordings, i thought i had made an improvement. It made me even more determined to play better. As my bro listened to my recordings, he said i did well as a beginner. This makes me happy but he goes on saying, i will sure give up later. He said "At the most, i give you 2-3 months." Labels: Guitar
What i can do
What i can do was to constantly practice.As the saying goes" Practice makes perfect", right. No practice, not even a pass. And when i wanted to give up, i browsed through 徐佳莹 again and again. Hence, at that point of time,I had decided to embark my guitar learning journey.I started searching and learning basic chords from the Internet on my own using my bro's guitar Such as C,G,Am,Em,F. All those were not easy to come by, especially the G and F. No matter how hard i pressed, the sound doesn't come out the way it should be. I wanted to preserve, make sure the sound came out and to play all the chords perfectly in a row. But to no avail. It was hard. Especially when my fingers are still soft and prone to painess. Before 徐佳莹 appeared in my life, all along i thought, learning guitar was uncool.I didn't really catch the attention of it even though my brother had already started his self-learning. "What with the instrument with six strings and hard to press anyway?" But when i really saw her playing guitar in the competition, this totally changes my mindset. All suddenly become so cool. Started learning guitar June 2008.Being inspired by a girl called 徐佳莹 from 星光大道. She's so talented! They called her the 创作才女. Thus, decided to start my guitar journey.
